Let Us Paint You a Picture!
Residents have found an outlet for old paint related materials through the District’s Household Hroblem Waste (HHW) program. Many residents take advantage of this program on Friday mornings. Individuals are encouraged to solidify all Latex paint and recover it through a waste hauler because Latex paint is not hazardous. Liquid Latex paint is just a problem to get rid of. Oil-based paint, latex paint, aerosol cans, stains, thinners, and related material can be brought to the District on Friday mornings mid-April through mid-November. A $5.00 vehicle fee is assessed for these materials. Above information applies to residents only, businesses should visit the Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG) link for details about CESQG disposal options.
Please Note: NISWMD staffs a chemist during collection times.
Need some paint?
An offshoot of this program is a reuse program. Items deemed usable are kept separate and offered to theater groups, Habitat for Humanity projects, FFA and 4-H projects. Organizations needing materials obtained through this program should contact the office at 1-800-777-5462.
