Shoes, Shoes Everywhere
Everyone has at least one pair of shoes they no longer need. By recycling used shoes, animal shelters in DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben Counties receive a direct benefit. Following the path determined by our Board of Directors, shoes are collected, categorized and transported to a vendor in Michigan. Shoes are distributed worldwide to those in need. The District receives a small amount of money from the vendor for the sale of the shoes. Funds generated are then donated by the District to cover costs of the actual care of the animals housed in shelters. This win-win situation has supported animal shelters for the past several years. Residents are able to recycle shoes rather than discard them in a landfill and the animals receive food and medications in return.
