Science Standards used in middle school recycling curriculum

The District provides a sixth grade middle school recycling program that meets several of the Indiana Academic Standards for Science Education. Our program focuses on teaching students the importance of recycling and encourages students to become better recyclers in their communities. Middle school educators address aspects of the following standards while students learn through hands-on activities:

  • The Nature of Science and Technology
          The Scientific Enterprise (6.1.4, 6.1.5)
          Communication Skills (6.2.5)

  • Scientific Thinking
         Critical Response Skills (6.2.9)

  • The Physical Setting
The Earth and the Processes that Shape It (6.3.8, 6.3.13)
         Historical Perspectives (6.6.1)
  • Common Themes
         Models and Scale (6.7.2)
         Constancy and Change (6.7.3)
