What Happens to the Separated Brush and Leaves?
Last post we talked about the importance of source separating brush and leaves when dropping off yard waste at the yard waste compost lots. Now that we understand why it’s important to handle yard waste in this manner, let’s take a look at the refinement process. In the video below, you will see District staff using the tub grinder to grind all that brush into mulch while the horizontal grinder grinds the leaves and grass into compost. With the correct materials in the right places, this grinding process moves quickly and efficiently to create end products that residents have grown to enjoy in their own gardens and flower beds.
